I attended my first F-class rifle competition which is also my first rifle competition of any kind. Overall it was a very positive experience and it did not feel very competitive from anyone but myself. Other people were just trying to help where possible and I never heard anyone speak negatively about someone’s technique or rifle and gear it was all very positive. I was surprised to see the calibers that people were using. I would think for this, people would want the absolute edge as far as high BC Bullets and crazy barrel lengths. Not the case, the people in my squad were using extremely light and fast varminting cartridges. One was shooting a .17 Remington with a 35g bullet at 4,100 FPS! And to add to my surprise it was a wood stocked rifle with a simple hunting scope. So fear not whatever your equipment might be, just show up with a positive attitude trying to learn and you will have a great time! The event was only 25-35$ to join which I thought was very reasonable and the minimum ammo required is 66 rounds although I shot 75 at the match with a few extra sighters that they permitted this time.

My rifle is a Uintah Precision bolt Action AR-10 upper with a 26” 1:8 shilen match barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I was using my reloaded ammo in ADG brass, the Hornady 147g ELD-M, H4350 and Federal large match primers. The velocity is right around 2730 FPS and they fly excellent with great SDs and ES. The scope I’m using is an SWFA SS fixed 20x MOA quad reticle. Cheap Chinese knockoff Bipod. Velocity trigger. Luth AR rifle stock and my home made rear rest rice bag.
