My Favorite Lipsticks for a Vintage-Inspired Look
The question I get asked the most is, “What lip color are you wearing?”
A few years ago, I did a little series on TikTok and Instagram sharing some of my most-worn lipsticks, especially the shades I love for my vintage-inspired looks. Those videos were fun, but they were all separate, and I’ve always wanted a place where everything could live together. So in this video, I’m revisiting those original favorites and adding a couple of new lip colors I’ve been wearing lately.
Red lipstick is such an iconic part of vintage beauty. From 1930s starlets to 1940s everyday wear, a bold red lip was more than makeup — it was a symbol of glamour, confidence, and resilience. And I genuinely believe there is a red out there for everyone. Not every red works for every person, but there *is* a shade that clicks, whether it’s a cool-toned blue red, a softer brick, or even something berry-leaning.
That said, vintage-inspired makeup isn’t only about red. Some days call for a moodier plum, a brown-rose, or a softer everyday shade that still feels classic without being too bold. In this video, I’m sharing the lipsticks I reach for the most in my day-to-day vintage style — the colors that make getting ready feel effortless and give that timeless, polished look without being fussy.
If you're building a vintage-inspired wardrobe or you just want lip colors that feel classic, flattering, and easy to wear, I hope this helps you discover a new favorite. And if you have your own holy-grail shade, feel free to share it in the comments — I’m always curious about the colors other people swear by.
