AnotherMaker | My favorite ESP32 for Commercial and Industrial Applications (and my first PCB!*) @AnotherMaker | Uploaded March 2022 | Updated October 2024, 16 hours ago.
I'm building a new hardware platform for my commercial and industrial clients, and I decided to choose PCBWay (https://PCBWay.com) for my PCB provider and Olimex (https://www.olimex.com) as my board provider. When I was spending real money, I went with these 2 companies. Here's why.
While I still believe the best board for one job, may not be the best for another, I've chosen the Olimex ESP32-POE-ISO as the new "base" platform that I'm developing most of my client projects on. Primary factors are
- Long term reliability (in my experience)
- Flexibility (Ethernet with POE and Wifi in one board), great GPIO options
- Ease of use
Time will tell if that's a good decision, but I couldn't be happier at this stage of the game. I also had fellow youtuber Simple Electronics (youtube.com/SimpleElectronics) design my first PCB for an embedded application. I decided to order the boards from PCBWay as a regular customer to see what the experience was like. This video will show you the results.
UPDATE: After placing my order, the kind folks at PCBWay decided to sponsor the YouTube channel and after seeing the video, they decided to sponsor it.
*Disclaimer: These boards should not be used in any situation where failure would result in loss of life or injury. Just because this is the right choice for my application, does not mean it's the right choice for yours.
A similar Olimex board is available at amazon

The ESP32-POE-ISO can be found at Mouser, Digikey, or Olimex.com
