In my review of the Sony XM6 (youtube.com/watch?v=DBiRCksoV4M), I told you how stoked I am that the EQ finally lets me fix the sound quality. And in this video, I'mma show you how I did it. Of course keep in mind... my preferences might not be yours, so I also share some tips on how you can find your own EQ more easily.

Songs to test the EQ with:
Men I Trust - "Oh Dove (live)"

- The kick drum is addicting when the bass is dialed in. It's got more of what I call "wallop" after EQ.
- The vocal gets brought forward, pulling out clarity and texture.
Cigarettes After Sex - "Stop Waiting

- This track has lots of bass guitar in it. Before EQ, it's just a droning mess, and after EQ, it's a pleasant bed of vibes.
- Also note how after EQ, the position of the guitar strumming feels very spacious, tinkling at the extreme reaches of the left and right channels.
The Cure - "Closedown"

- Before EQ, there's no space in the music, it almost sound like it's recorded in mono.
- After EQ, you can follow the floor tom drum pitter-pattering left and right, and even pick out deep a distorted guitar riff that adds texture to the track.
