Here is a video of the current way I have microphones oriented around my kit.

Bass Drum - Shure PG 52
Snare Drum - Shure SM 57
Overheads - Samson C 02 (Pair)

I record the 4 mics into my Zoom HD16, then import them into Garageband through USB. In Garageband, I EQ everything a little bit, compress the snare and bass drum, as well as put a slight gate on them.
