@RetroTechChris has me addicted to Compaq LTE laptops, and I think I'm racing @i80386sx to a working LTE/286, so when I recently saw an LTE/286 on eBay (the place where I buy most things I later regret) that powered up, I had to buy it!
Yes, indeed, the laptop does power up, but the power adapter smells like fish when it gets warm. That means only one thing: It's time to recap it before irreversible trace damage occurs! And maybe, just maybe, I can get my first power adapter working in the process, since I'll have a working example to reference.
The LTE/286 motherboard also needs re-capped, but that might wait for another day.
Will the power adapter still work after a recap? Will I get the first power adapter working? Will I be able to test the first LTE/286 using the second power adapter? You'll have to watch to find out!
