In my chicken curry video, there were lots of questions about the pot I'm cooking in. Here it is. It's a very traditional red clay pot from Sri Lanka. It's unglazed earthenware. There's a small village in the middle of the island called Molagoda where potters sell all their wares on either side of the main road (to Kandy), it's a sight to behold! I grew up hearing my parents and relatives talking nostalgically about cooking over fires in these clay pots and when I visited Sri Lanka for the first time as a teenager, I made my parents stop the van so I could buy some of these pots from the potters on the side of the road. The more these pots are used, the better they become. I've recently seen them in Tamil grocery stores in the suburbs of Toronto...
