I didn't film their reaction or anything. I don't think it's right to do that to anyone, especially not people who's brains aren't done developing. This video is just me talking about what happened and how I prepared them and how I'm proud of myself for normalizing it, and them for being such awesome kids. My twins are 8 years old, to give that context.
I know a lot of people really want to protect kids and think that not talking about upsetting things is going along with that, but I really do want to put out into the world that kids deserve the truth, and they can handle more than we think they can a lot of the time. It's so important to let everyone, no matter how old they are, feel their feelings and process them in their own time and their own way.
