Join Cajun Boy (Zachary Gray) as we take a look at the dragon of the river, and the largest freshwater turtle species in the world, the alligator snapping turtle! As always we hope y'all enjoy this video!
While we've shown alligator snapping turtles in the past, both wild and captive, this was the largest wild alligator snapping turtle we've ever filmed. These giant snapping turtles grow to be well over 100lbs, with rare cases of reaching 200+lbs! Snapping turtles are known for their incredible bite force, and the alligator snapping turtle is considered to be the most dangerous turtle to handle, being as there are some recorded instances of fingers being bitten off. These turtles are becoming increasingly rarer in their home range due to over fishing and habitat pollution, so any good publicity for these guys is a huge win!
