Andi Alhadeff and Jesse Mercury perform excerpts from MY BAD PARTS, a new musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing helmed by three-time Drama Desk nominee Nominee Justin Huertas and Steven Tran.
Justin Huertas (Lizard Boy, Lydia and The Troll) teams up once again with his musical collaborator Steven Tran as co-composer to bring to life this Shakespeare-inspired upcoming production. The project will be directed by Makaela Milburn, Seattle Shakespeare’s current interim artistic director and director of The Bed Trick, the company’s first commission by Keiko Green inspired by All’s Well That Ends Well that premiered early this year. Development on this project will take place over the coming season with readings and a workshop to refine script and score. Stay tuned for further announcements and public reading date!
MY BAD PARTS follows Ronnie, who has begrudgingly agreed to be a last minute stand-in bridesmaid at her ex’s brother’s wedding. And while everyone is excited to see her after all this time, Ronnie has a little plan of revenge up her sleeve. Justin’s new take sees the lead character Ronnie as a combination of witty Beatrice and the infamous villain Don John from Much Ado About Nothing.
