I thought I would share what the back yard lighting project looks like now that things have grown up and out. The lamp post looks rather neat with the ivy covering it.
Every lamp is electric.
The patio pergolas are operated off a 6 channel flicker controller with 8 25w bulbs, one per lamp.
The lamp post is a 4 channel controller with 4 25w bulbs.
The trees are 60w fluorescent security lamps from the home warehouse.
All of this was wired by me before we put in the concrete and is operated off of x10 powerline controllers. The concrete, pergolas and planters were all designed by me and we put them in. You can tell because apparently I havent yet fancied myself as a tile installer so the planters are still just fugly concrete blocks. Hooray for lazy!
I had intended on adding ambiance lighting all along the fence line but that concept was nipped due to it being a fru fru expense. I also wanted to do this out front with a multi-headed lamp post and also some lamps installed on the house, all with flicker controllers. This hasnt happened yet. Cashflow problem...
A neat fact is that the lamp post is something I yanked out of somebody's garbage. It was a gas lamp and I creatively converted it ot electric by making up a mounting plate for the four bulbs. We also frosted the clear glass on all of the lamps for better effect.
All of my neighbors told me they tought it was gas.
