Anatolia, the most Islamic city in Turkey. Bahriye was born here. At the age of 17, she chose her own husband and married out of love. By following her heart, she was contravening the teachings the Koran, and was rejected by her family. Over the years, Bahriye also refused to be subservient to her husband. She found herself on the street, separated from her two children. Forced to sleep in cemeteries for her protection, she now lives in a women's shelter and helps others who, like her, are threatened by their families.
