UiO Realfagsbiblioteket | MusicLab 5: Lockdown Rave @realfagsbiblioteket | Uploaded July 2020 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
In the 5th edition of MusicLab we hosted an online algorave (algorithmic rave). Acclaimed algoravers Renick Bell and Khoparzi improvised live-coded music on their computers from their respective locations in Japan and India, while audience in their homes all over the world danced to the rave music. MusicLab is an innovation project by RITMO and the University Library. This event was also the launch of RITMO's brand new MusicLab App.
PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH
We aim to understand how live-streamed concerts make you move! We are launching our new MusicLab mobile application which measures your movement with your phone's sensors. Please wear a shirt with a pocket so your phone can be worn on your upper body. We ask that participants enjoy the concert while standing (as much as you can), and dance along as you would at a real rave! You can download the MusicLab application to your phones before the event. More instructions will come in the concert. Please participate with fully charged phones.
The MusicLab Application can be downloaded from here:
Android: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.uio.mobileapps.musiclab&hl=en
Apple: apps.apple.com/us/app/musiclab/id1512077801
Tips for participants:
- The iPhone app doesn't function in the background therefore the screen must remain on for the duration of the concert and no data will be recorded or sent if you use your phone for other purposes during the concert.
- To save battery life, you could put the phone on airplane mode and then turn on WiFi to ensure data transfer.
