Everyone knows rhythm when they hear it but it’s not always easy to define. Lets define rhythm as nothing more than how we deliver time in music. For time to be rhythm it should be delivered in even increments so a repeatable pattern exists - something recognizable as a pattern but also varied enough to not be boring.
This concept of patterns is a big one - it’s one of the most critical parts of the human experience and we are very, very good at it. Whenever we experience something, we immediately seek the patterns of behavior - “how does this work”? Our brains automatically seek to understand the underlying principles behind the experience.
