A little background. If you do not know who Makenshi is, he is probably one of the most prolific commenters in Pony Music history. He comments on almost every single new fandom song that comes out. Not only that but he leaves heartfelt, well thought out and well-constructed comments that address the content of the music.
Back in the early days of the fandom I used to be a frequent commenter like Makenshi, although my comments were never as detailed or well thought out as his are. At the time a pony musician named Orion took notice of my efforts and even wrote a theme song for me called “Zephysonas' Theme.” It is still up today; you can go listen to it! youtube.com/watch?v=XrzjC7JC7_o I always felt so welcomed and appreciated in the pony fandom, more so than I ever had before. This song is my way of giving back to the community in my own tiny way. In a way I am trying to “pay it forward” what he did for me. Without this fandom I don’t think I ever would have started writing music. I owe so much to this community for being so encouraging and caring since day one.
Originally Makenshi won a free commission for my 500 subscriber special (*cough* like two years ago) Makenshi told me he wanted a song that would show “the love that I feel for the brony community and all of you.” I hope I did something that will make you proud!
As for the writing of this song…I have never had a more tumultuous time with a song. It has gone through so many version and had so many problems along the way. I ran into 3 different terrible bugs in this session. Some I never figured out how to solve, including one that would wipe out all my instruments every time I re-opened the session…which when you are working on a song that uses 30 instruments, all with unique settings, it can be very cumbersome to reload them individually every time. So many other problems plagued the writing and mixing process of this song. I am glad I toughed it out and in a way it made it more meaningful to me.
I hope the final product speaks to all of our appreciation for this community, this second family we have built together.
Oh and as for the notes. That was just a little extra surprise I threw together because I wanted to try and make Makenshi cry :3 Thanks to everyone who participated!
