Hello Friends, I got a small AcerMate 386SX 33 Desktop months ago, it won't boot but luckily I could revive it by applying the Dallas RTC mod. Recently I put in a 3Com Etherlink III with XT-IDE boot-rom and also installed an IDE2CF adapter into the free 3.5" drive bay.
Long story short, I wanted to test and present the Miro PCM1 Pro that redled repaired for me (thank you, mate!) and as I found the original driver disks containing win 3.1 drivers, I thought this would be a good choice for my AcerMate. I was very surprised about the great audio quality of this card, I listen a lot of games music and midi music with it the whole evening, playing some rounds of Microsoft Hearts and felt like a time traveler in the good old mid 90s.
There surely will be more videos of this card soon, but let's start with some Fast Tracker II stuff today.
Zabutom's "sine ride" is my absolute favourite xm-tune and I can listen to it again and again. I'm not sure but I think I have heard this tune the first time on an installer or cracktro and found it together with Fast tracker II an a Floppy when I searched for my copy of Windows 3.1. Old floppys are a pain in the a. and often unreadable, but this one survived for luck!
The XM file could be played back with up to 22khz (higher sampling rate brought the machine to it knees) but I decide to take the lo-fi style in 8khz that sounds most familiar to me with this particular file.
