Xin Zhui, also known as Lady Dai, was discovered in 1971 in Hunan Province, China.
Although she had been dead for more than 2,000 years, her body was in an extraordinary state of preservation: her skin was still supple, her internal organs were intact, and traces of blood were even found inside her blood vessels.
To this day, scientists believe that this preservation resulted from a combination of layered coffins, an airtight burial environment, a mysterious liquid inside the coffin, and very specific burial conditions.
However, there is still no definitive explanation for why her body has survived in such excellent condition for more than two millennia.
