In this video, I test whether an oscillating multitool with a carbide blade can effectively cut into a solid wall to fit a socket. Using a multitool for this job promises less dust compared to an angle grinder, even with a shroud. But is it worth it?
During my test, I found that the multitool does a great job outlining the socket hole, but there’s a major downside—you’ll likely go through one carbide blade per socket, which can get expensive. The alternative methods include stitch drilling with a masonry bit, but that takes too long. The best secret weapon? A small SDS drill on hammer mode with a chisel attachment—perfect for knocking out the center once the outline is cut.
