M.U.L.E. by Ozark Softscape and Electronic Arts is one of the finest games you can play on the Atari 8-bit systems, and notable for making complex economic theories accessible, interesting and fun to engage with. Taking on the role of interplanetary pioneers, it's your job to build a functional colony alongside your rivals... while simultaneously trying to end up the richest! It's a prime example of how developer Danielle Bunten Berry was an absolute maestro of game design.

Note that the 1.0.0 version of The400 Mini has a slightly (though not unplayably) glitched version of M.U.L.E. preloaded, so I recommend playing from an alternative disk image such as the one found at a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=4190 -- just load this onto a USB stick and enjoy from The400 Mini's Media Access menu.
