The rise and fall of ensemble strings and the playful piano rolls of 'Guzel' counterpoint an infectious bassline that starts our journey with beautiful energy. The ethereal vocals of the title track 'Ikaruga' continue the traveller theme, with shakers, pounding tribal kicks and a rolling Arabesque lead inviting us up to dance. Next, 'Collosia' weighs in as a masterpiece of juxtaposition, between the syncopated bass and percussion, and the ebb and flow of Turkish influenced strings. 'Swadian Knights' takes no prisoners and instead gives us a stern lesson in the meaning of order and chaos. To conclude the lineup we have 'Shokugeki', a controlled explosion of percussion and strings that marches us off into a determined battle with an unseen future. All said you may just have the simple feeling that you need to go back to the beginning and listen to them all over again.
