Mughal rulers were always proud of their Timurid ancestry. Akbar declared himself a Ghazi by beheading a Hindu King Hemchandra Vikramaditya of Delhi. His father Humayun befriended Rajputs & abolished discriminatory Jajiya Tax & pilgrimage tax on Hindus. This partly curtailed further destruction of India. But Jehangir, Son of Akbar resumed the policy of forced conversion & enslaved Hindus. To escape conversion many Hindus took refuge in thick Jungles. Historian Prof K S Lal, writes who were these people? Is Today’s Scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other backward Classes are those who ran away from mainstream Hindu lineage?
