MTV at the Hanover Mall - Part 1 of 2

Location: Hanover, MA
This isn't the most riveting footage we ever filmed, but it should function well enough as a throwback to the late 80's.
In 1988, MTV did a "tour" of the country by visiting hundreds of malls and setting up booths and adverts for the juggernaut of all media at that time. We decided that we should go to the mall with the video camera and pretend that we were filming for a local cable station. The entirety of the footage is mostly us badgering innocent mall-goers with a bunch of stupid and poorly constructed questions. Really, we could have done a much better job.
However, the video serves well as a snapshot of the clothing and style (or lack thereof) during the amazing year of 1988.
Something else that will probably be of great interest to long-time Hanover denizens is the incredible nostalgia you might feel with this visual reminder of what the Hanover Mall used to look like. The pay phones by the front doors, the 70's art on the walls, the pet store, Jordan Marsh, Orange Julius, the brick fountain... Even though it has been many years since the mall looked like this, it is still how I see it when I picture it in my mind. The memories of youth are potent.
Also, there are a few great moments with Mark Brinkman in this video. If you listen carefully you'll hear some of his extremely funny commentary (of special note: listen for his response to the girl who says she watches MTV for 50 hours a day - it's classic Brinkman!). Also a tribute to his enormous charisma is the way that the girls being interviewed react when he questions them, as opposed to when any of the rest of us did. It's subtle, but observant viewers will see what I mean.
That kid was chicks.
