Performing the "Bend Test" to prove authenticity of a Magic: The Gathering card. If this was a fake card from having a printed layer glued to its surface, it would have creased the fake layer. The crease looks like a bolt of lightning jagging through the area of the bend, or in some cases where a stiffer layer is used the layer would have just popped off.
