Horns for Sale: trumpetherald.com/marketplace.php?own=15921
Two really nice trumpets; one from Mt. Vernon, sold originally in '58, serial number 18,xxx. I really thought this trumpet had a larger leadpipe, but I just got the shop card from Bach (a pic, actually) and the shop card says it's a 25 leadpipe with a 37 bell. Fooled me, but the M bore certainly gives the blow a different feel. The Elkhart trumpet is from around '72, but has the nice Corporation logo. I believe 90% of Strads have the 37 bell; the remaining 10% are 43, 72 and 25 bells mostly with a very small percentage of 7, 38 bell, etc. These horns sound similar- very similar, but I think the Large bore 25 bell is tad brighter... Your thoughts? :) Here's the order played:
1. Mt. Vernon Medium Strad, GR64 M-B mouthpiece, MK D Nickel Silver tuning slide: 3:50
2. Elkhart L bore Strad, GR64 M-B mouthpiece, MK Bronze Radial tuning slide: 5:55
3. Mt Vernon Medium bore Strad, GR64MS mouthpiece, same slide as #1. 7:55
4. Elkhart L bore Strad, GR64MS mouthpiece, same slide as #2. 9:10
