The Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial is located in La Jolla, California in San Diego County. It originally opened in the early 1950's as a tribute to those who served in WWII and then, in the Korean War. Since then, veterans who served in all wars, starting with the Revolutionary War, have been honored here. There are about 7,000 plaques representing 10,000 military members. The monument is also known for its 29-foot-high white cross, and for the great 360 degree views of San Diego. We met Joe, a veteran, and a guide here, who explained the process of how members of the military get a plaque here.
