You found me thumbing down the road Between my head and my heart In a three dollar suit With a worn out deck of cards Solitaire's the only game Where you don't need nobodies help Oh but lord you're bound to lose If you bet against yourself Oh River, friend of mine Are you the losing kind? I'll sing the hymnal call again Sing it sweet by and by No god could hear my plea Oh river let it be Sing the hymnal call again Sing it sweet by and by Oh two non-believers We searched for ashes for our heads But not a church in this town Had a priest out of bed I know you cry about your brother For the times that he goes mad I bet you look at me the same way I'd throw my money down on that Oh River, friend of mine Are you the losing kind? I'll sing the hymnal call again Sing it sweet by and by No god could hear my plea Oh river let it be Sing the hymnal call again Sing it sweet by and by Here's the flop Then the turn Take a breath and hold it in You might lose out on that river You might take it to the chin But oh River, friend of mine Are you the losing kind? I'll sing the hymnal call again Sing it sweet by and by No god could hear my plea Oh river let it be Sing the hymnal call again Sing it sweet Sing it sweet By and by

Lyrics: The sun is sinking In the cold dark night The sun is sinking In the cold dark night Planting my love according to the signs Planting our love according to the signs
The sun is sinking Orion’s chasing the dogs The sun is sinking Orion’s chasing the dogs Rabbit foot keychain jangling An ancient song
The sun is sinking In the cold dark night The sun is sinking In the cold dark night Planting my love according to the signs Planting our love according to the signs
Trace my hands across constellations On your skin in the night Star gazing ‘til the afternoon When the time is right
The sun is sinking In the cold dark night The sun is sinking In the cold dark night Planting my love according to the signs Planting our love according to the signs
Oh there’s no other, other thing we should do Plastic stars on my bedroom ceiling Hanging over you

#SGGoodman #Pepper #TheButtholeSurfersSnapping Turtle BTS - Nutthouse Studios, Sheffield, AL - S.G. GoodmanS.G. Goodman2025-10-02 | My album's been out in the wild for almost three months now. Seems like longer, or maybe shorter. All I know is it's out there. If you've released any sort of creative project, music or not, you know the feeling.
Wanted to share this little snapshot of the making of “Snapping Turtle.” If you feel like you are trapped in the land of people noodling while hearing nothing but a drum loop - welcome to the recording process. It’s having a sneak peek into a GROUP ASSIGNMENT from the 7th grade.
Now, I know I just made that sound horrible. It is both horrible and amazing. This clip allows you to hear a bit of what the song amounts to in the end, but you can definitely hear (and see) it ALL coming together, which is the amazing part. That is the magic of recording, when you are on the chase and you hear the dogs barking ahead of you because they are on the trail of the song. For those of you that I lost with that last sentence, that is exactly what recording music is–a dark night of coon hunting.
There we all were, not able to see much, just following the trail of a sound. No matter how long the journey, we just kept our ears perked and let our feet wander towards that distant signal that we're onto something.
Thanks to Ryan Hartley for the video magic and for the boys that helped make the recording happen at Nutthouse Studios in Sheffield, AL.

Lyrics: This early bird’s now singing like a late night talking fool I’ve been trespassing on my neighbors, swimming naked through their pool Well I’ve forgotten all my friends but I know they can tell that
I’m in love I’m in love I’m in love I’m in love
I’ve been crying at commercials on the hotel television set And I’ve been lying on my taxes, writing off all the things that I ain’t bought yet RSVP to invitations knowing in my heart that I’ll never show that
I’m in love I’m in love I’m in love I’m in love
The moon is right now for cutting my hair I’m checking out, Wal-Mart collections of underwear
I’m in love I’m in love I’m in love I’m in love
Half hour conversations at the checkout line in the grocery store Telling my whole life now to strangers in a way I’ve never done before I’ve been dancing in my kitchen singing into a spoon That

Lyrics: Heard I love you from Los Angeles Heard I love you from Los Angeles Heard I love you from Los Angeles Once we got the news and cut the motor It pinned him right beneath the shoulders Wrote I love you from Los Angeles The place we started drifting from each other So for years now I've took cover Heard I love you from Los Angeles Even with the pain between each other I was reaching for my brother
Because a true friend they would thread the needle A true friend they would set the bone Hold your legs and let you scream If they knew where your pain was coming from Not the only one beside you Not the only one to fight But you took your hand and broke the mirror It hurt to bad to know I've seen the light
Michael told me we could handle it Michael told me we could handle it Michael told me we could handle it To give it time the limbs that gave to shadow Would grow back from new pruned hearts Michael swore that you could handle it Though you felt the cut and took the blow He swore you'd see the loving part
How a true friend they would thread the needle A true friend they would set the bone Hold your legs and let you scream If they knew where your pain was coming from Not the only one beside you Not the only one to fight But you took your hand and broke the mirror It hurt to bad to know I've seen the light
Shining through those cold and hardest parts of you Oh and I've seen the light shining through Oh and I've seen the light I've seen the light I've seen the light Shining through

Lyrics: When you’re a farm kid in a small town you drive before the legal age And I won't forget that day When I drove up on some low down kids They were all huddled around A poor snapping turtle Taking turns with a stick They were beating the hell out of it So I asked if I could take a lick
When I raised my hand I brought down the wrath of God himself beat those kids ‘til they were crying out for help I couldn’t help myself Then threw the turtle in the truck
Ooo small town is where my mind gets stuck
LeAnn, thoughts go back again to LeAnna Eighteen became a mother LeAnn, thoughts go back again to LeAnna Already raised her little brother
I recall a train ride, through the countryside, in the south of France Young, poor, and weighing my circumstance And where I couldn’t play God
LeAnn once spent a summer in Paris Paris, Tennessee The only Paris LeAnn would ever meet We talked about it all on a bleacher seat When we were back in county school
I grew up hard on bottom land where only crops should grow Watched people reap what the demons sewed And I take it with me everywhere
And I’ve been told I can come off hard, hard as the world I’ve known Walking around with my spirit broke Surprised to see love every now and then
Told to pray for forgiveness, oh and to pray for grace Not after seeing LeAnna’s face A life beat down like that snapping turtle day
God could have thought up a better way To teach me just how small I am To teach me the other side of luck
Ooo small town is where my mind gets stuck Ooo small town is where my mind gets stuck Ooo small town is where my mind gets stuck Ooo small town is where my mind gets stuck Ooo small town is where my mind gets stuck#Conclave #AfterParty #FireSignS.G. Lyrics: Well I'm just trying to build a good life Nailing down shingles in the right sign No curling in the daylight Like the old folks said they could
Some tried to make me out a liar But I'm a dreamer with no answers Oh who's been living like the sun don't shine On the same dog's ass everyday
Oh and Who'll put the fire out Who'll put the fire out Who'll put the fire out Who'll put the fire out Who'll put the fire out Who'll put the fire out Who'll put the fire out
Living like a fire sign I was born a seeker Living like a fire sign An old story keeper
They're killing time when i'm sewing gold Shape shifting through the night of life's turnrows Yeah I've been living like the sun don't shine On the same dog's ass everyday
