01:40 Paradigm Binding Instructions:
1. Identify the left and right snowshoes by the L and R on the footplate.
2. Pull the red buckle tabs to loosen the toe straps, and slide your foot in until your toes are up against the toe stop.
3. Pull the toe straps forward towards the front of your boot until snug.
4. Pass the heel strap around your boot heel and slide into the hook. Pull tight and lock the strap, feeding any extra strap through the strap keeper.

How to Choose a Snowshoe Length:
The right length is based on your weight and the snow conditions you’ll be in the majority of the time. The more you + gear weighs and the softer the snow, the more flotation (surface area) you need. Calculate your weight plus gear—for a good estimate, add 10–15 lbs. (4.5-7 kg) to your body weight. Choose the shortest shoes you can from the size chart: they will be lighter, easier to walk in and more agile.
Note on Snow Conditions: We define ‘Deep Snow’ as 24+ in. (60+ cm). In addition to depth, snow type also affects floatation. Wet, dense snow requires less length; dry, powdery snow requires a longer length.
Women-Specific Sizes:
A slightly narrower shoe (~ ¾ in. or 2 cm) provides a more natural and efficient gait for most women. The difference in flotation is minimal, and the added efficiency and ease of walking will be appreciated by anyone—women or men—with a narrow gait.
Traveling in Avalanche Terrain:
Always check an avalanche information center for current avalanche and snow conditions, plus the mountain weather forecast.
