PATTERN PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS:
• There are 10 pages in the free pattern.

• Print with a “do not scale” setting so the image size is not affected. Pages should print at 100%. Do not enlarge or “shrink to fit”.
• After printing, use a ruler to measure against the 2-inch (5 cm) square marker. If your ruler doesn’t match up, ajust your printer settings.
• Trim the10 pages at the border edges and piece/tape them together according to the layout on the right.

Then you'll want to make a pair for everyone you know. Grab the pattern here on my site (it's free!): madeeveryday.com/oven-mitt
*NOTE: my pattern piece recommends an additional layer of QUILT BATTING (so you have 4 layers total). This is in addition to what is shown in this video. You may chose to add this or not. It will make the project slightly more bulky to sew. But the added layer is nice for ample heat protection on your oven mitt.
SUPPLIES NEEDED for 1 OVEN MITT:
• 1 Fat Quarter (or 1/4 yard) of fabric for the outer layer
• 1 FQ (or 1/4 yard) of fabric for the lining layer
• 1 FQ (or 1/4 yard) of Quilt Batting* (see not above) (cotton or other batting)
• 1 FQ (or 1/4 yard) of "Quilted Ironing Board Cover" fabric (or other similar fabric)

This is the 11th fabric collection I've designed, which always starts with an interesting color palette. Then I start playing with drawings and shapes, and try to contrast the large scale prints with small scale prints, tossed and non-directional prints vs. geometric designs. It's a puzzle putting it all together! And it's a joy to see what YOU make with them!

VIDEO PRODUCED BY Vince Penman:
http://vincepenman.com
Radius for your Waist circle =
(Waist measurement + 2-5 inches) ÷ 6.28
OR
Hip measurement ÷ 6.28
• For kids, I would go with the waist measurement. The extra 2-5 inches depends on how gathered you'd like the waistband to be.
• For adults, I would go with the hip measurement. Or try the waist measurement + 2 inches. It's a bit of trial and error since everyone has a different hip/waist ratio.
WAISTBAND PIECE at 3:39
Cut a strip of fabric 3.25" x (the circumference of your waist circle + 4 inches or so)
Basically, measure around your waist circle (the donut hole in your skirt) and then add some extra inches. You'll see in the video that we just need a tail of fabric. Once we pin the waistband to the skirt, we'll trim off the excess.
Circle skirts are so fun to make and wear!
If your fabric is not wide enough to make a full circle (typically for adults), You can cut two half circles, and sew them together with a side seam. This also makes it fun for adding pockets! See my video link for that below.

Scrunchies are so fun and easy to make. They work great in your hair--use them for a ponytail, bun, high ponytail, or as a bracelet till you're ready for a ponytail! I've made these for years, and now my daughter Lucy has been making them. In fact, making and selling scrunchies was the first "business" I had when I was just her age. Come make a scrunchie!...or 10.

GET A FREE 1-PAGE PRINTABLE OF "HOW TO MAKE A MASK" (with size chart included) on my site:
madeeveryday.com/fabric-face-mask-free-pattern
PLEASE READ IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT MAKING + WEARING MASKS ....A homemade face mask is not a replacement for medical PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Wearing a homemade face mask does not protect you or others from the virus. It can help (which is why the CDC recommends wearing one when going to the grocery store or pharmacy) but it is only a semi-protective barrier.
Here is a great article about the best fabrics to use when sewing a face mask:
https://newsroom.wakehealth.edu/News-Releases/2020/04/Testing-Shows-Type-of-Cloth-Used-in-Homemade-Masks-Makes-a-Difference
WHEN MAKING MASKS:
Use clean, cotton fabric that is tightly woven on both sides, and sew on a clean work surface.
Wash your hands before sewing.
Do not make masks if you are feeling sick.
IF YOU WEAR A MASK IN PUBLIC:
• When you get to your car, take the mask off-- without touching the front of the mask---and place it in a bag. You may use a fabric bag or pillowcase for this, so when you get home you can wash everything together. If you wear gloves to the store, pull those off from the inside out and place them in the bag also.
• When you get home, WASH your hands for 20 seconds.
• Wash the mask in a washing machine. Throw away the gloves (if they are disposable).
• Disinfect your car by wiping down the things you touched, your steering wheel, keys, phone, credit card, doorknob to the house when you came in.
INFO FOR ADDING FILTER POCKET IN THE VIDEO.
PREWASH + DRY all fabrics before sewing! (so they pre-shrink)
• Cut 2 pieces of cotton fabric 9 x 8 inches, WxH (23 x 20 cm)
• Cut 4 ties, 18 inches long each (46 cm)
• Finished height (after pleating) should be 3 inches tall.
FIND A FREE 1-PAGE PRINTABLE PATTERN FOR THIS (using elastic around the head) HERE ON MY SITE: madeeveryday.com/fabric-face-mask-free-pattern
I've tried different styles, and this method is my favorite (with 4 stretchy ties). The mask covers the mouth and nose well, it's easy to make, and uses ties (rather than elastic) for a comfy and adjustable fit. Just cut strips of knit fabric, or cut up an old t-shirt or leggings! There's also an opening at the bottom of the mask, so a filter piece can be added in.
INFO ABOUT KNIT FABRICS:
The best kind of knits for this will have a bit of spandex in them. Just look at the raw edge of the fabric. If it's already rolling up a bit, then it's going to work .
Try using a stretchy soft t-shirt (not the cheap "free T-shirt" stuff you might have from an event). Or use a pair of worn out leggings (the Cat and Jack ones from Target work GREAT).
AND IF IT'S NOT ROLLING UP, YOU CAN STILL USE IT! The ties won't be as stretchy, but they will still stay nice on the head because of the texture of the fabric, which doesn't slip on the hair as much as ribbon or other fabrics. Maybe cut them a little longer, 20 inches? (since they won't stretch)
I hope you're all safe and well.
Love from Texas.

- Purchase SHERPA Fleece in most fabric shops and online:
amzn.to/2EOd07w
I love this blanket because it's SO soft, it's easy to make, and looks totally high-end and professional when you're done. It's the best! Backed with very soft sherpa fleece, the fleece folds over to bind the edges of the blanket--which is a great technique for any blanket or quilt. I'll show you some tricks for getting perfect mitered corners as well. You're going to fall in love with this blanket. We already have!
-------------------------------------------------------
BLANKET DIMENSIONS:
DOLL SIZE
Top Fabric - 22" x 25"
Back Fabric (Sherpa Fleece) - 28" x 31"
TODDLER/LAP BLANKET SIZE
Top Fabric - 38" x 52"
Back Fabric (Sherpa Fleece) - 44" x 58"
THROW BLANKET SIZE
Top Fabric - 53" x 63"
Note: because most quilting cotton is only 42 inches wide, you will need to piece (sew together) two large pieces of fabric together to get a full size TOP fabric.
Back Fabric (Sherpa Fleece) - 59" x 69"
Note: sherpa fleece is typically 60 inches wide, so you will only need one large piece of fleece for the back.
ANY SIZE:
Top Fabric -Desired finished dimensions
Back Fabric (Sherpa Fleece) - add 6 inches to both dimensions

Does it get any cuter than a little handmade baby hat?? Nope. And it doesn't get any quicker and easier, either! It's the perfect little beginner project, even if you've never sewn with knits. And it makes such a wonderful little gift for a newborn. Let's sew!
Some of the knit fabrics in this video are from my Boardwalk Delight fabric collection, manufactured by Art Gallery Fabrics. More about the collection (including where to find it!) at http://www.madeeveryday.com/boardwalk-delight
