Kathleen (Ida) Long was an English pianist and teacher. She was born in Brentford, a London suburb. She was a child prodigy and appeared in public at the age of eight. From 1910 to 1916 she studied with Herbert Sharpe at the Royal College of Music in London and herself taught there from 1920 to 1964. In 1950 she was awarded the palmes academiques of France and in 1957 was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
