Movement is NOT wasted energy.

A common misconception about running efficiently is that movement just means wasted energy.

Take a look at Eliud Kipchoge from a side view.

From that view, things like the torso and head may seem very still.

However, lets look at the front view.

There IS natural, rhythmic side to side movement of the head and torso.

And that is all appropriate to run efficiently.

So, if you feel like you are running all stiff and rigid, relax a little.

It may actually help you find a more efficient running style for you.
