In this video, I take a look at Canva Magic Layers and how it allows you to move, edit, and rearrange individual objects inside a single image. This is especially useful when working with large AI-generated infographics, classroom visuals, posters, or busy educational graphics where you want more control over the layout after the image has already been created.
We explore how Magic Layers scans an uploaded image, identifies separate elements like text, characters, shapes, and objects, and then lets you move or edit those layers individually. I also test it using both an AI-generated educational infographic and a movie-style poster so you can see where the tool works really well and where it still struggles with more complex images.
Along the way, I also discuss practical classroom use cases, including creating differentiated lesson resources, editing AI-generated content, improving worksheet layouts, and repurposing visuals for presentations or classroom displays. While the tool is still not perfect, it opens up some really interesting possibilities for teachers creating custom content with AI tools and Canva.
If you're already using Canva in education or experimenting with AI-generated classroom resources, this is definitely a feature worth testing.
