About the speaker:
Dr. Gyana Ranjan Tripathy is an Associate Professor (Geochemistry) and chairperson of the Earth and Climate Science department of IISER Pune. He completed his PhD from Physical Research Laboratory, India in 2011 and worked at Colorado State University, USA for a post-doctoral position. His research mainly focuses on land surface processes and the long-term carbon cycle, largely in the Himalayan river basins. For this, he mostly relies on radiogenic isotopes and geochemistry of water and sediment samples from river and ocean systems. He has published several research articles on these research outcomes in national and international journals. He has also supervised several master's and doctoral students for their thesis work. In recognition of his quality research findings, he has been awarded the INSA Young Scientist Award, Young Associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences, and INSPIRE faculty award.
