Basically, get a fever on Tanetane Island, then go into the sludge pond. Boney won't join you. Walk around until the fever goes away, then go into the PSI menu and exit back out. Lucas will have turned into Boney!
The effect wears off after you go into the menus or get into battle. But if you save your game and restart, Lucas will still be Boney.
This bug has no helpful uses as far as I know, but maybe it'll lead to people figuring out some new stuff or finding new bugs!
