When you are in the waters of Australia, be on the lookout for both moving and motionless creatures. The dangerous stonefish lays motionless in the shallow waters of Northern Australia. The animals are fatal to step on, but one might never see them.
For example, an Australian man was in Fiji on holiday in 2013 when he trod on a stonefish in the shallow waters. The 51-year-old was taken through a week of intensive care before he was allowed to travel back to Sydney. He spent two more weeks there before the swollen leg returned to normal. Others say it took them 6 months to get back to normalcy.

Occasionally, saltwater crocodiles enter freshwater to wash away the salt. Unfortunately, you might also be in that estuary or freshwater when it happens. Therefore, there are signs to beware of the saltwater crocodiles everywhere in the country, especially in Darwin. The crocodiles are aggressive and huge. So huge that they can eat a human. In the last 4 decades, there have only been 24 fatal accidents around swamps. Still, a high number if you ask me.

Treatment is possible, but few people have survived it. Of course, it would be more realistic to stay away than test the treatment potency.

That way, they stay in the swimming pools for hours.

The deserts of Australia boast the most venomous snakes in the world. The snake slithers away from humans, so that could be your pass if you ever came face to face with it. However, we implore you to try not to test the theory of its potent venom. A single drop of Taipan snake venom can kill 100 people. The few bitten people were spared, but you could be in a bad place if you do not follow protocol and avoid them.
