How can you tell when a motive is good enough to write a full piece of music?

When trying to come up with an idea for your composition, how do you know when you've found one?
In this video I explain how to know when you've got a good idea, and use the main titles theme from The Mysterious Benedict Society score to show you that it's not what musical idea you use, but how you use it.
