Mortal Shell II is a brutal Soulslike that doesn't go easy on you, but it does give you tools to fight back. One of those is the Tarstone upgrade system, which can meaningfully boost your build once you unlock it. The catch is that it's not available right away.
In this guide, we show you exactly where to find the Etching Needles, the item you need to start upgrading your Tarstones. Head to the Mushroom Village Gate beacon on the eastern side of the map and cleanse it. That opens up a Cleansed Gate leading into the Glutted Mire, a swamp dungeon where the Etching Needles are waiting for you.
