So I decided to watch docjazz4's video about vibrato and it hit me that my posture was completely wrong for playing ocarina while recording. I would have my mic sitting between my legs and i would try to play towards it. Now i have a mic stand (of the old, dirty paper chef hat variety) and now the clarity has vastly improved i think.
