Morrissey wants to be clear that he hasn’t canceled Las Vegas. A message on his official website shouts “MORRISSEY DOESN’T CANCEL VEGAS.” And, “The shows cannot happen for logistical reasons outside of Morrissey’s control.”
We’ve drilled into Morrissey’s possible explanation for yanking dates at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.
In March, he said he was unable to sleep the night before cancelling a show in Madrid because of construction noise near his hotel room.
“An 8am drill is a drill too far,” he wrote in a statement, claiming the disruption left him in a “catatonic state.”
“I will need one year to recover,” he added.
The “Everyday is Like Sunday” artist’s four-show series was scheduled to kick off this Friday. But last Friday, ticket holders were informed via email: “Due to unforeseen logistical issues, the scheduled Las Vegas residency cannot take place.”
Wynn Las Vegas rep says that company has “nothing to add” to this episode, nor does show booker AEG Presents.
We’re not expecting these shows to return, either, unless Wynn, AEG or Morrissey himself (maybe in March) announces the new dates.
