X-Men '97 Season 2, Episode 5: "Weapon X, Lies, and DVDs" — Morph's walking through the Weapon X facility with a gun, checking corners. Then out of nowhere a Brood monster attacks him from behind. He barely has time to react before Lady Deathstrike comes out of nowhere and kills it. Then Morph makes a joke like "shouldn't you buy me a drink first?" They ask if he's infected. He says no. But bro, that moment had me thinking they were about to kill Morph off. The show just shifted into full horror mode with the Brood. It's creepy, it's brutal, and the paranoia is real. This episode went from action to survival horror and I was not ready for that tone shift 💀

That Brood jumping Morph from behind had me thinking the show was about to end him 😭 Lady Deathstrike coming in clutch with the save. Then Morph's joke about getting a drink first while they're asking if he's infected? That balance between horror and comedy is what makes X-Men '97 so good. This episode went DARK. The paranoia, the facility crawling with aliens, the body count — this is legitimately scary animation. #XMen97 #Brood
