Today marks our 15th straight day of 80 degree weather in October, note that this has never been done before. The mild turns to wild this week as two cold fronts plunge into Utah. The first is weak and should put some some valley rain with snow levels up above 9500'. The second cold front is stronger and will hold the brunt of the precip Thursday night into Friday morning. Snow levels will fall to about 5000' with some flakes mixing down to the valley floor with no real accumulation expected along the Wasatch Front. The Wasatch Front could see rain from .25-.75" locally 1.00"+, central and southern valleys between .50-1", and St. George and southeastern Utah .25-.50". Mountain snow: northern mountains 6-12", cottonwood canyons 10-18", Uinta mountains 10-20", southern mountains 6-12" with locally higher in the Tushar mountains. Matt Johnson - KSL Weather 10.16.24
