So, today we are out and about walking in the village of Buckland which is located in the county of Gloucestershire but also not far from the Worcestershire border and just 1.2 miles south of Broadway. The village comes under the Borough of Tewkesbury. At the last Census the village had a population of 225.
The parish church in the village is the Church of St Michael which is of Anglo Saxon origin. The church used to be home to a book called "The Acts and Monuments" but sadly was stolen in 2012 from the church.
Buckland is completed with it's own manor house (17th century) which is currently used as a hotel. Some of the manor house is seen from the churchyard in the video. A couple of houses within the village are also listed as being grade II. Buckland is mentioned in the Doomsday Book in 1086.
Nearby to Buckland is Burhill hillfort, which has very little signs left of its former existence. The site over looks Buckland and some of the Avon / Severn valley. Quantities of fragmented pottery have been found at the site dating back as far as the early Iron Age.
There are no hidden OAAW logos in this video.
