Shakespeares Globe | 'More than I have said' | Act 5 scene 5 | Richard III (2024) | Shakespeare's Globe @ShakespearesGlobe | Uploaded June 2024 | Updated October 2024, 18 hours ago.
'Onwards for hope, freedom, and victory!'
Richmond (Sam Crerar) has arrived in England from France to engage in a fateful battle with the current King of England - Richard III. After a blissful nights sleep - the same can't be said for Richard - Richmond rallies his army to take down the tyrant.
Shakespeare’s famous history, directed by Elle While, unfolds in the Globe Theatre this summer, in a 'powerful' ★★★★ (The Arts Desk) and 'thrilling' ★★★★ (The Independent) new production exploring modern tyranny afresh.
Richard III by William Shakespeare, directed by Elle While, plays in the Globe Theatre until 3 August 2024: bit.ly/RichardIII2024

TRANSCRIPT
00:00 More than I have said, loving countrymen,
The leisure and enforcement of the time
Forbids to dwell upon. Yet remember this:
God, and our good cause, fights upon our side.
00:14 Richard except, those whom we fight against
Had rather have us win than him they follow.
For what is he they follow? Truly, friends,
A bloody tyrant and a homicide;
00:26 If you do sweat to put a tyrant down,
You sleep in peace, the tyrant being slain.
If you do fight against your country’s foes,
Your country’s fat shall pay your pains the hire.
00:40 If you do free your children from the sword,
Your children’s children quits it in your age.
For me, the ransom of my bold attempt
Shall be this cold corpse on the Earth’s cold face,
But if I thrive, the gain of my attempt
The least of you shall share their part thereof.
1:02 Sound drums and trumpets boldly and cheerfully.
Onwards for hope, freedom, and victory!
