The gaming world is abuzz with Sony planning to stop selling their PlayStation video games on physical discs in favor of going the digital download routine. But Sound Ideas, leading royalty free sound effect and music producer, has already done this, with offering their sound libraries previously available on audio CD or even DVD-ROM as digital downloads only, or even external hard drives for bigger collections! But Zak Wolf points out how unlike video games or movies or music, sound effects on physical media is a completely different ballpark and a more justified reason to go the all-digital route, along with showing several of the sound effects libraries on physical media he uses, especially ones with familiar classic cartoon sounds, on compact disc AND vinyl record!
