What was meant to be an epic day in professional surfing lived up to just that at the Fiji Pro Presented by Corona Cero.
The rising swell began show more and more every heat, culminating in a Perfect 10 for Kauli Vaast, only to add a 9.07 for one of the year’s top performances over proven charger Miguel Pupo. A marathon day began with women’s action, charging through Quarterfinal action with Carissa Moore leading the way, but Erin Brooks promptly halted the 5x World Champ with her unstoppable momentum and earned back-to-back Finals appearances. Then, Isabella Nichols showed her warrior spirit, posting a 7.17 before dealing with a heavy wipeout that sidelined her until she overcame the pain to finish the heat and earn a Finals spot of her own.
The men’s Round 3 provided absolute fireworks. A Perfect 10 from Vaast, Connor O’Leary’s forehand fury earning a 9.00, and Callum Robson’s full send toward dry reef, plus Griffin Colapinto and Gabriel Medina using every ounce of their Cloudbreakit knowledge set the stage for Quarterfinal wonder. That’s when Cole Houshmand earned exacted his revenge in a New Zealand Final rematch with Yago Dora, and this time Houshmand’s power was too much in pumping Cloudbreak before Leonardo Fioravanti notched an excellent 8.50 to conclude a jaw-dropping day.
The Pacific didn’t stop with the final horn, and continued to show building swell sending washthroughs the reef, setting the stage for a massive Finals Day with plenty of today left over. A Yellow Alert has officially been issued, and 2026 Fiji Pro champs could be crowned when competition resumes.
