Welcome to the show! We’ve done a number of shows on boosts in the past, but here’s an update using some recent additions to the market that have a range of super useful features and sounds.
Why choose a boost? Well, at its simplest, a booster will give you ‘more’, but perhaps a better question is, ‘What do I want to boost, and why?’. These eight pedals offer different answers to that, whether you want to achieve more tonal range from the guitar, send your overdrive pedals into the next level or indeed push your amp into more overdrive.
We hope you enjoy the sounds and feel inspired to try some of these applications for a boost pedal.

The TPS Band did a run of live shows in May 2024… What gear did we use?
Welcome to the show. We were fortunate enough to do a trio of live dates in the UK with our dear friend, Andy Timmons. It’s the second time we’ve done it and despite various obstacles conspiring to upset the organisational applecart, so to speak, we finished three great nights of music on a high. Massive thanks to each and every person who came out to see a show – we are extremely grateful!
People have asked to get a closer look at the rigs Dan and I used for the gigs… so here they are.
We know a lot of you would also like to see recordings of the shows, but we didn’t film or record anything properly, mostly because it’s too much hassle and expense to do it right, and would basically take me out of the band - Mick here. Were of the opinion that gigs are gigs and they’re best consumed analogue, in person.
And… really sorry I forgot to play the Jam Wahcko! Doh.

Welcome to the show! It is our great pleasure to welcome our good friend Pete Thorn to the show. Canadian ex-pat / longtime Los Angeles resident Pete is a professional guitar player having toured with artists including Melissa Etheridge, Don Henley and Chris Cornell. He also has a fantastic YouTube channel where he gets busy with some of the best gear demos you’ll find anywhere.
Pete was on tour in the UK with The Classic Rock Show during February and March 2023, so we were able to steal him for an afternoon to chew the fat over his current rig, Suhr signature guitar and plenty more besides…
