Over the next two days, a second contingent of 183 firefighters from across Australia and New Zealand will deploy to the United States to support the significant firefighting operation currently underway across North America.
Of those deploying, 61 personnel are from NSW, including 40 from the #RFS. While we typically send incident management personnel and those in supervisory roles, a large portion of this contingent will be working on US fire trucks and engines, providing an opportunity for local fire crews to have a well-deserved rest.
With this deployment, more than 250 personnel are now deployed to the United States, supporting our international firefighting partners. We wish all personnel a safe journey and thank them for their commitment to supporting communities affected by these fires.
