Moray is an archaeological site in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, Peru. It consists of circular terraces built by the Incas, with the largest depression measuring approximately 30 meters deep.
The terraces create different microclimates, which may have been used for agricultural experimentation.
The temperature difference between the top and bottom terraces can be as much as 15°C (27°F). The site is believed to have been an agricultural laboratory for testing crop adaptation to varying environmental conditions.
Moray is located at an altitude of around 3,500 meters (11,500 feet) above sea level. The site is made of concentric terraces with complex irrigation systems. It is accessible from Cusco, about 50 km (31 miles) away.
