모란봉악단 - 축복의 노래
Text & music: Kim Jong-il (김정일) 1953
Recorded: 2013.07.27 Mokran Video, DPRK
On June 1st 1953, the then 11 year-old boy Kim Jong-il wrote a letter to his father Kim Il-sung who was commanding the Korean troops. At the time the US troops had been forced down to south of Pyongyang. Naturally he was thinking of his father's well-being as he could probably himself watch the dark clouds of smoke from the battle in the distant sky. Shortly after he got inspiration from the letter to write this song.
You can see the full letter rolling down on the backdrop after the second verse and the beginning reads:
항상 그리운 아버지 에게
아버지 그동안 안녕하십니까?
가렬한 조국해방전쟁에서 미국 양코배기를 때려 부시느라고 얼마나 수고 하십니까?
Mine not very good translation:
To my always beloved Father
Father, how are You these days?
How much effort do You have to put into this fierce liberation war in order to batter down the Westerners from the US?
Kim Jong-il is often referenced to as "The bright shining star". At 0:34 there is an extra bright star put in to the right in Ursa Major(?) as an extra honor to Him.
At 1:49 the car used by Kim Il-sung during His inspections at the front is showed. It is nowadays on display at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum in Pyongyang.
