The animated short film depicts the magnetic forces of a shared attraction under the eye of a watchful moon. Wangaratta Wahine, sung by Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band is a wry song about a flirtatious troubadour entering a roadside café and serenading the wife of the proprietor. They enact their flirtation through the masks of the Commedia dell’arte characters - Harlequin and Columbine. Trickster Harlequin and savvy Columbine play in the moonbeams while the other characters sway to the music and ignore or react to each other. The music moves the narrative along into memories and beyond the present; and the stage and props are taken down and stored away for now.

The film is visually inspired by Joan Miró’s painting, The Harlequin’s Carnival: a canvas of musical shapes, eyes, ripples, tunes, rogues and graces suspended in a world of sentient potential.
