Capcom unsheathed a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword at the Summer Game Fest live showcase. The latest footage reveals formidable new foes, a surreal setting, and combat mechanics for the dark fantasy swordplay action game where a samurai armed with a mystical artifact battles monstrosities from the underworld.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is due out for PlayStation 5 in 2026.

Downward will let you set off on humanity’s final adventure, to seek out an explanation for the apocalypse that changed the Earth as we know it.
Taking advantage of parkour techniques and of the mysterious power you are given, you will traverse astonishing and dangerous ruins of past civilizations, all to find the legendary artifacts meant to control the deadly calamities that came to this world.
You won’t be alone in this, but what can you do? This world is not for humans anymore…

Experience challenging first-person parkour action throughout ruins of past, jump, slide, hang… Collect experience to upgrade your character’s stats and powers, and use it to your advantage combining them with your parkouring skills to face Ancient Guardians waking up, within one goal: end your journey.

Super bloody action, crazy twists and turns to blow players’ minds, and a mess of old-school gimmicks—all rolled into one wild ride. About five seconds away from dying, our hero Romeo Stargazer becomes “Dead Man”, a dude stuck between life and death who ends up hunting space-time’s most wanted fugitives through multiple universes in this all-new title from Grasshopper Manufacture—its first new intellectual property in years!
Our hero, Romeo Stargazer, is an FBI Space-Time special agent in a spiffy mask and garb called the “Dead Gear.” After the space-time continuum is shattered by a time paradox generated by a genius scientist just kinda screwing around, Romeo must hunt down the most-wanted fugitives in the universe as a man stuck between life and death, simultaneously both living and dead: “Dead Man”!
Romeo swaps between guns and swords, using his enemies’ own power against them to absolutely annihilate the evil hordes in this peak example of full-on “bloody action,” featuring ridiculously clever level design and white-hot battles, cathartic enough to collapse the universe itself!
Romeo’s search for these space-time fugitives ends up intertwining with his search for his suddenly missing girlfriend, the mysterious Juliet… You’ll just have to play the game to see how and if these mysteries turn out, but after all is said and done (and dead), will Romeo be able to see the tears of time?! Shikhondo: Blue Pieta is a side-scrolling fantasy bullet hell—a series first. It follows Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage (Steam: April 2024, Nintendo Switch: May 2025), moving the stage to a foreign city where a rookie grim reaper and a vampire hunter cross paths.
Full voice acting throughout. Ultra-wide support up to 32:9.
What’s New :
- The series goes side-scrolling for the first time. The stages—a metropolis, an amusement park, a subway station—are modern spaces that feel lived-in and slightly off. The enemies come from the legends of a different world.
- The Soul Collect system returns, evolved. Graze bullets to charge your gauge. Trigger it: every bullet on screen becomes a score pickup, 2x multiplier. Have a bomb left? Spend it for a second stage—4x multiplier, attacks boosted. The closer you play to the edge, the more you get out of it.
- Counter Bomb is new to the series. Get hit, and the screen flashes—eight frames to press the bomb button. Do it in time: no damage, and you either pop Soul Collect Mode or burn a bomb. Near-death is a decision now.
- Counter Bomb requires a full Soul Gauge or at least one available bomb.
